ABOUT CHAWEL

The Chawel (chow·wel / chowel) name comes from its original idea of use, CHAnge toWEL. 2002 was when the  solution to changing in public came to be. Created by a beach lifeguard in Vancouver, BC, who often witnessed the awkwardness and sometimes embarrassment of tourists deck changing in/out of swimwear, and even at the beach. The common methods of wrapping a towel around your waist or someone holding a towel up as you change behind it can be slow and tricky, when changing rooms aren’t always near by or clean. Chawel makes changing faster, easier and provides you with complete privacy.

Chawels travel towel features and functions are all inspired from experiences of travel and an athletic lifestyle. The idea of the hidden pocket came from witnessing things on the beach in Brazil. Now you can keep your valuables out of sight while you go for a dip in the water, or if you fall asleep sun tanning. For those traveling in hot countries, you probably never think to pack a sweater. Just think how cold you will be on that air conditioned train after being in 40 degree heat or your flight has been delayed, and you have to overnight in the airport. A Chawel provides you with the extra warmth and comfort that a normal small travel towel can’t.

Chawel now has the HD series which is much like a surf poncho, or hooded towel, changing robe ….. whatever you want to call it. Complete with open armholes and a hood. The adult sizes have a zipper pocket feature as well.
